Thursday, July 28th - Meziadin Lake to Watson Lake

We left Meziadin Lake and headed down the road to Watson Lake.  We saw two more black bear along side the road but were unable to get pictures.  We also had a mother moose with her baby almost run out in front of us on the road.  Luckily she saw us in time to turn back and her baby followed.  Again we didn't get a picture but were sure glad she turned.

We stopped for a potty break for the dogs.  There was a little creek there that was really pretty called Tee's Creek.  We came across three bicycle riders that were headed the other way and talked to them a bit.  I don't think I would like riding a bicycle on the Cassier highway.  It was two guys and a gal.  Brave soles they were.

The old road used to run along side this lake.  With the road improvements it no longer goes right next to the lake so they put some picnic table by the old road and it is now a rest stop now.

This day we ran into some construction.  We had been lucky.  Most of the time when we saw signs stating poor roadway of some kind the road had already been worked on and fixed.  Not this time.

There was a pilot car leading quite a long caravan of cars and motor homes through the one land work area.

After the construction we came to Jade City.  This is a store built around a family that has a Jade mine.  They mine the Jade and make their own jewelry and items to sell in their store.  They say everyone should stop at Jade City. We did in 2007 and again on this trip.

On this leg of the trip we came across a bridge that really bothered me when we drove up during 2007.  At that time the bridge only had a couple rails of wood as the base to drive on.  You could see right through the bottom of the bridge.  There now is a deck to drive on but it is only one lane so you better make sure no one else is coming from the other direction.

Not long before we got to Watson Lake we drove through a part of the forest where there had been wild fires in 2010 and 2012.  Apparently the Cassier had been closed during these fires and you could see why.  The trees were burned on both sides of the road and for almost as far as you could see.

Just before we got to Watson Lake dark clouds started showing and we got rained on quite hard.  That night we heard thunder and the rain just poured down.

Once we got to Watson Lake we went to the Sign Forest to see if we could find the signs we had put there is 2007 or earlier years.  No luck!

When we first got to Watson Lake we went to the RV camp we had stayed at in 2007.  Unfortunately it had been closed down so we ended up at the down town RV site.  It was basically an RV parking lot.  The night we were there a caravan of many RV's was also there.

Wednesday, July 27 --- Fraser Lake to Meziadin Lake

With no real stops of interest to slow us down we just kept heading down the road. From Fraser Lake it was a little owner 200 miles to the junction of the Cassier Highway. Once on the Cassier we kept our eyes open for wild life. We got lucky and were able to get a picture of a black bear eating clover by the side of the road.

We continues on to Meziadin Lake Provincial Park where we got one of the last available sites.

This is a beautiful park that has sites with the beach at your back door. With Canada's holiday coming up many campers were already there.

It would be a nice place to spend some time. Especially if you got a beach front site. We were parked up above looking down on the lake.

From our site overlooking the lake.

Tuesday, July 26th --- Lake La Hache to Piper's Glen, Fraser Lake

Traveled today through Prince George.

We stopped by a park and had lunch.

Couldn't enjoy the park as dogs weren't allowed.
Luckily we found a place in the shade just outside the park.

Prince George has a lot of parks.  Hopefully not all of them are non-pet friendly.

We got back on the highway and continued to a private campsite just outside Vanderhoof called Piper's Glen RV Resort.  It didn't have many sites but the view was wonderful overlooking Fraser Lake.  A mild breeze was blowing to keep the bugs away and we enjoyed sitting outside watching boats pull waterskiers and tubers.

Tomorrow is another day.

Monday - July 25th --- Cache Creek, BC to Lake La Hache, BC

Traveled from Cache Creek, BC to Lake La Hache, BC

Our first stop was at Clinton where last year Tessa, Julie's Mini Schnauzer had a small heat stroke.  This year we left the dogs in the rig as we walked around the town.  Didn't stay very long.

We traveled on to the 108 Mile House.

This is the front of the house and above are the various rooms.

Aren't  we cute?

Notice the toilet paper!!

The church had been added since 2007 when we were here last.

Julie's new house.

The Clydesdale Barn

The owner raised prised Clydesdales that were used in logging.

Our stop for the night where Zoie got to go swimming and Rascal and Tessa cooled off.

We found a wonderful stick that she could get when swimming.

The beach area.
